Shri Priyakant Ju Temple Vrindavan: Timings, History, Darshan, Aarti & Travel Guide 2026

Shri Priyakant Ju Temple in Vrindavan – the Lotus Temple – is a 125-foot Makrana marble structure dedicated to Radha and Krishna, inaugurated on 8 February 2016. Entry is free. Summer darshan runs 5:00 AM-12:30 PM and 5:00 PM-9:00 PM; winter runs 6:00 AM-12:00 PM and 4:00 PM-8:00 PM. Located on Chhatikara Road, 15 km from Mathura Junction. Experience My India includes this temple in guided Vrindavan tours from ₹2,999 per person. WhatsApp +91-7302265809.

Vrindavan has over 5,000 temples. Most of them are centuries old, tucked into narrow lanes, built in the red sandstone or brick style common across the Braj region. Shri Priyakant Ju Temple is different – a 125-foot lotus-shaped structure in white Makrana marble, rising above Chhatikara Road, visible from the highway before you reach Vrindavan’s inner lanes. Opened to the public in February 2016, it’s the newest of Vrindavan’s major temples and one of the most immediately striking structures in the region.

I’m Gurudutt, founder of Experience My India, born and raised in Braj Bhoomi, guiding pilgrims through Vrindavan since 2018. Our team has walked 50,000+ pilgrims through this complex – through the Mangala Aarti at 5:00 AM, through the Raj Bhog offering and through the evening Sandhya Aarti. This guide is built from that on-ground experience.

By the end you’ll know the exact 2026 seasonal timings, the complete aarti schedule, the verified construction history, how to reach the temple from Mathura and Delhi and how to pair this visit with the wider Vrindavan circuit in a single well-paced day.

History of Shri Priyakant Ju Temple Vrindavan

The decision to build Shri Priyakant Ju Temple was made in 2007 by the Vishwa Shanti Charitable Trust, under the leadership of its president, Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji. The Trust formally established the project in 2009 – the year the site was acquired and the design commission began. Construction commenced in June 2012 and continued for approximately seven years.

The temple was inaugurated on 8 February 2016, with Haryana Governor Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki present at the ceremony. What had been planned as a 7-year construction journey from founding to opening became one of the most architecturally ambitious private temple projects in the Braj region in the modern era.

The name itself is theological: “Priya” refers to Radharani – the beloved – and “Kant” refers to Lord Krishna – the lover. Priyakant Ju means “the Lord who is Radha’s beloved.” The temple’s presiding deities are Radha and Krishna in this form.

The founding spiritual vision of Devkinandan Thakur Ji – a widely respected Vaishnav preacher known across North India for his Bhagavatam katha discourses – gave the temple its philosophical footing: a contemporary structure expressing the timeless devotion of the Radha-Krishna tradition in Braj.

Experience My India includes the full historical and spiritual context of this temple in every guided Vrindavan visit. WhatsApp +91-7302265809 if you’d like a guide who can walk you through the significance of each element on-site.

Shri Priyakant Ju Temple Timings 2026

The temple follows a seasonal schedule – timings shift between summer and winter. This is the most important fact for planning, since first-time visitors using generic timing information often arrive outside the open windows.

SeasonMorning OpensMorning ClosesEvening OpensEvening Closes
Summer (April-September)5:00 AM12:30 PM5:00 PM9:00 PM
Winter (October-March)6:00 AM12:00 PM4:00 PM8:00 PM

Both sessions have a midday closure of approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. Arriving between 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM in summer (or 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM in winter) means finding the gates closed – the single most common mistake made by visitors who check only the general open time without noting the split schedule.

During major festivals – Janmashtami, Radhashtami, Holi and Kartik Purnima – the temple may extend both sessions, with evening darshan running past 9:00 PM in summer. Experience My India confirms exact timings on the morning of every Vrindavan tour, since festival-period changes can happen with short notice. Call +91-7302265809 to confirm the window for your specific travel date.

Planning your Vrindavan darshan? Experience My India’s Same Day Mathura Vrindavan Tour includes Priyakant Ju Temple in the morning block, paired with Banke Bihari and Prem Mandir in a single well-timed day. From ₹2,999 per person.

Daily Aarti Schedule

AartiTimeWhat to Expect
Mangala Aarti5:00 AMThe day’s first aarti – quiet, intimate, attended mainly by local devotees and overnight pilgrims
Shringar Aarti8:00 AMDeities dressed in the day’s elaborate ornaments; moderate crowd gathering
Raj Bhog Aarti11:45 AM – 12:00 PMAn elaborate meal offering – the grandest ritual of the morning; temple fills before noon
Sandhya Aarti7:30 PMThe most-attended aarti of the day; devotional songs, lamps and a large evening gathering
Shayan Bhog9:00 PMFinal offering before the deities retire for the night – smaller, devotional crowd

The Sandhya Aarti at 7:30 PM draws the largest congregation and is the most visually striking session – the white marble exterior lit against the evening sky forms a distinctive backdrop for the aarti’s lamps. Arrive by 7:00 PM to get a position in the inner courtyard. The Mangala Aarti at 5:00 AM is the reverse – attended by serious pilgrims who have stayed overnight in Vrindavan, with a genuinely quiet and personal atmosphere.

Experience My India times every Vrindavan evening itinerary around the Sandhya Aarti at 7:30 PM, pairing it with the Prem Mandir light show (7:30 PM, 1.8 km away) on separate evenings rather than attempting both in one night. WhatsApp +91-7302265809 to work out the right sequence for your schedule.

Architecture – The Lotus Temple of Vrindavan

Standing tall at approximately 125 feet, the temple is constructed in the shape of a lotus flower. The beauty of the temple is enhanced by lakes and fountains on both sides. The entire structure uses Makrana marble from Rajasthan – the same source used in the Taj Mahal – worked by craftsmen trained in traditional Indian stone carving.

At the four corners of the temple, you will find shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesh, Hanuman and Lord Shiva. A shrine to Lord Nimbarka occupies the fourth corner – connecting the temple’s architecture to the Nimbarki Sampradaya tradition of Braj, which places the Radha-Krishna relationship at the centre of its theology.

The main sanctum holds the presiding idols of Radha and Krishna. The surrounding ponds on both sides of the temple create a reflection of the lotus structure in water, making the approach from the Chhatikara Road entrance one of the most visually distinctive in Vrindavan. The temple is elevated above road level, with a formal entrance path leading up to the marble plaza.

Unlike Banke Bihari and ISKCON – both of which require navigating Vrindavan’s narrow inner lanes – Priyakant Ju Temple sits directly on the main highway corridor, making it accessible by private vehicle and the most wheelchair-navigable major temple in the area. Experience My India includes this detail in every senior-citizen Vrindavan package – call +91-7302265809 for more.

Entry Fee & Practical Visitor Guide

Entry fee: Free for all visitors. No ticket counter, no online booking, no prior reservation required.

Photography: The rules inside the main sanctum are similar to most Vrindavan temples – photography of the deity is generally not permitted in the inner sanctum. Exterior photography of the lotus structure from the entrance plaza and the pond area is allowed and produces the best images. Ask temple staff before photographing inside any enclosed area.

Dress code: Cover shoulders and knees. Traditional Indian attire – kurta-pyjama or full trousers with shirt for men, salwar kameez or saree for women – is the expected standard. Shorts, sleeveless tops and miniskirts will be asked to be covered at entry.

Footwear: Remove before entering the temple complex. A shoe-stand facility is available at the entrance.

What to carry:

  • Cash in small denominations (₹10-₹100) for prasad
  • A cloth bag for offerings
  • Water – the open plaza area has no shade in summer

Visit duration: A complete visit – entrance, darshan, fountains and ponds, four corner shrines – takes 30 to 45 minutes at a comfortable pace. Budget 60 minutes if you want to stay for an aarti.

How to Reach Shri Priyakant Ju Temple

Shri Priyakant Ju Temple is located on Chhatikara Road (Mathura-Vrindavan Marg), near the Vaishno Devi Mandir in Chhatikara – on the main highway between Mathura and Vrindavan, not inside Vrindavan’s narrow inner lanes.

The highway location makes Priyakant Ju Temple the easiest major Vrindavan temple to reach by private vehicle – unlike Banke Bihari and ISKCON, which require parking well outside the inner-lane area and proceeding on foot. Experience My India uses this access advantage to sequence the temple at the start or end of every Vrindavan day, with the AC cab waiting at the entrance while the group does darshan. Nearby Temples to Pair With Your Visit

Priyakant Ju Temple’s position on Chhatikara Road makes it a natural first or last stop in a Vrindavan day circuit – it sits between Mathura and Vrindavan’s inner-lane temples, which means it can be added to either end of the route without backtracking.

Ground Truth – What Nobody Tells You

The seasonal timing difference is not a minor adjustment. In winter, evening darshan closes at 8:00 PM. In summer, it closes at 9:00 PM. That’s a full hour’s difference at the end of the day – if you’re planning to attend the Sandhya Aarti at 7:30 PM in winter, you have approximately 30 minutes after the aarti before the complex closes. In summer, you have 90 minutes. Plan accordingly.

Priyakant Ju Temple is significantly more accessible than most Vrindavan temples. The wide marble plaza, the level ground, the lack of narrow inner-lane navigation and the direct highway access make it one of the best options for elderly pilgrims, visitors with mobility challenges and families with young children. Experience My India recommends this as the primary temple for senior-citizen Vrindavan groups, paired with ISKCON for the same accessibility reason.

The reflecting ponds look completely different at different times of day. At 7:30-8:00 AM the morning light hits the white marble from the east. At 7:00-7:30 PM just before the Sandhya Aarti, the fading light and the fountain movement create the most photographable conditions. Neither condition exists at midday.

Devkinandan Thakur Ji’s discourses draw large crowds during special events. If a katha or pravachan by Thakur Ji is scheduled during your visit, expect several thousand more people in and around the temple complex on those specific days. Experience My India checks for these events before every itinerary – WhatsApp +91-7302265809 so we can plan around it.

The Vrindavan Bus Stand is only 2 km away – meaning this temple is reachable from the bus stand on foot in about 20 minutes along the highway or by auto in 10 minutes for ₹30-₹50. Most visitors who travel to Vrindavan by local bus from Mathura pass directly in front of the temple on the way.

The Vishwa Shanti Charitable Trust he leads built and maintains the Priyakant Ju Temple. The name “Priyakant” directly encodes his devotion to Radha and Krishna – Priya (Radha’s beloved name) and Kant (Krishna as the lover). What makes Priyakant Ju Temple architecturally different from other Vrindavan temples?

Priyakant Ju Temple is the only major temple in Vrindavan built in a lotus shape – 125 feet tall in Makrana marble from Rajasthan, with reflecting ponds on both sides, four corner shrines (Ganesh, Hanuman, Shiva, Nimbarka) and a formal marble plaza approach. Inaugurated in February 2016, it is also the newest large temple in Vrindavan. Its highway location on Chhatikara Road means it’s far more accessible by vehicle than Vrindavan’s inner-lane temples. Experience My India explains the full architectural context on every guided visit.

Can I visit Priyakant Ju Temple with elderly or mobility-limited family members?

Yes – Priyakant Ju Temple is one of the most accessible major temples in Vrindavan. The wide marble plaza, level ground and direct highway access eliminate the narrow-lane and step challenges present at many inner-Vrindavan temples. Experience My India’s senior-citizen Vrindavan packages prioritize this temple and ISKCON for exactly this reason – call +91-7302265809 with your family member’s specific requirements before booking.

Conclusion

Shri Priyakant Ju Temple gives Vrindavan something its ancient-lane temples can’t – space, light, open marble, reflecting water and an architecture that makes the Radha-Krishna devotion visible at 125-feet scale. It’s a 2016 temple, yes. But the evening Sandhya Aarti at 7:30 PM here, with the marble lit against the Vrindavan sky, is one of the most distinctive experiences in the whole Braj region.

Experience My India has guided 50,000+ pilgrims through this complex since 2018, with guided Vrindavan tours starting from ₹1,999 per person and 2-day packages from ₹3,999 per person – AC cab, hotel, Braj-born guide, all temple timings managed.
